How many lumens are appropriate for warehouse lighting?

Besides Lux, there are other ways to measure lighting in warehouses. One such unit is the Lumen’.

A lumen measures the total amount of visible light from a source. It tells you how bright a lamp or bulb is. While lumens indicate the overall light output in all directions, lux measures the light hitting a specific surface. These metrics are key when planning warehouse lighting.

Naturally, the size of the warehouse, the type of products stored, and how they are stored all matter. For warehouses with big items, you’re looking at around 10 lumens per square foot. For places storing smaller items, you'll need about 30 lumens per square foot. And for aisles, aim for roughly 20 lumens per square foot. Just like with lux, the lumen requirements in a warehouse depend on several factors.
